Believe that hard work pays off? We are looking for a Digital Editor to join our busy team. Uncommon Sense is 4 years old, has grown fast and is now on the lookout for a conscientious individual to support us on our fast-paced expansion program.

Uncommon Sense is seeking a forward-thinking, resourceful editor who can harness digital technology to expand our clients’s reach and impact. The role requires a meticulous editor with a keen eye for detail, speed, accuracy, and storytelling. Additionally, it demands a digital marketer’s creativity, visual acuity, and the capability to design and execute data-driven strategies.

The digital editor will play a vital role within the editorial team, overseeing the production of content to ensure optimal presentation across digital platforms. This position also involves significant liaison duties with other teams within Uncommon Sense, staying informed about digital media trends, and strengthening connections with our client’s readership.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Crafting headlines (H1 and SEO) and producing metadata for all client online content.
  • Developing language and visuals for social media posts.
  • Sourcing and optimising photos and visuals for online pieces for social media and digital channels.
  • Collaborating with the Marketing team to create video clips and other audiovisual content for social media.
  • Supporting the Marketing team with editorial needs for digital experiments (e.g., subject-line testing, off-platform advertisements).
  • Assembling and editing the clients weekly email newsletter.
  • Contributing to the development and production of our client’s podcast feed.
  • Monitoring and reporting on digital media trends, including news consumption patterns, online engagement, algorithm changes, and AI’s impact on media.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Exhibit strong alignment with Uncommon Sense’s mission and a keen interest in supporting its work.
  • Have editorial experience, ideally in a digital-first environment.
  • Possess digital/social media/content marketing experience, and/or experience in a tech company.
  • Demonstrate excellence in writing and editing, with mastery of spelling, grammar, and style.
  • Show a strong eye for design and visual presentation.
  • Be confident and creative, yet open to guidance and feedback.
  • Consistently generate original ideas.
  • Display maturity, sound judgment, and an understanding of the media landscape.
  • Have a sense of humour and the ability to integrate it appropriately into compelling content.
  • Be comfortable with a multi-faceted reporting structure.
  • Show genuine interest in internet culture and the digital media business.
